LEADERSHIP AND MENTORING TRAINING OPPORTUNITY!
The Pennsylvania Psychiatric Society invites you to apply for the DevelopMental Leaders Retreat. This overnight retreat will consist of a welcome reception, presentations by experts in leadership development and mentoring, meaningful discussions, and conclude with a working luncheon. We welcome all psychiatrists with a commitment and interest in taking on leadership roles over time. Early Career Psychiatrists (ECPs) as well as psychiatrists whose demographics and interests would bring more diversity to PaPS are encouraged to apply. Post-retreat, it is expected that participants will be better prepared for leadership challenges and mentoring opportunities in academic and clinical settings through the shared experience of selected advance readings, tabletop exercises, and facilitation by physician leaders.
Nirmal Joshi, MD, will present the session on leadership, having provided numerous such sessions for the PA Medical Society. Dr. Joshi has served as Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs and Chief Medical Officer at Pinnacle Health System in Harrisburg, PA. His special interests include graduate medical education, clinical quality and patient safety, clinical informatics, and most importantly, improving physician-patient communication.
Donna Norris, MD, will facilitate the session on mentorship. Dr. Norris is a child and adolescent and forensic psychiatrist, on the faculty at Harvard Medical School. She has served as a Speaker of APA Assembly and co-edited Women in Psychiatry: Personal Perspectives (edited by Donna Norris, Geetha Jayaram, and Annelle Primm).
Participants are expected to be present for all retreat-related activities. There is no cost for this retreat.
